Sports injuries
For a sports injury, Dr. Rick Verjans assesses the cause of your pain and its impact on sport and everyday movement. Consultations cover acute muscle, tendon, joint and ligament problems in the upper and lower limbs.
Which injuries can be assessed?
Examples include a suspected muscle tear, tendon injury, sprain or knee injury. People who do not exercise intensively can also develop movement-related problems and seek assessment.

Examination and diagnosis
The consultation starts with your symptoms, how the injury happened and a physical examination. Ultrasound can help when appropriate. It cannot identify every injury; further tests may be needed.
A tailored treatment plan
The plan reflects the injury, your activities and your goals. Options include adjusting activity, targeted physiotherapy and return-to-sport advice.
For acute knee injuries, Dr. Verjans works with Prof. Dr. Verdonk. If surgery is being considered, an orthopaedic surgeon may be consulted.
