Persistent injuries and tendon problems

Book an appointmentPractical information

Persistent or recurring pain during sport is not always caused by a single accident. Dr. Rick Verjans assesses how activity load, recovery and movement relate to your symptoms.

Common overuse problems

Examples include Achilles and patellar tendon problems, pain around the kneecap, runner’s knee, and tendon problems in the shoulder or on the outside of the hip. Growth-related sports problems in young people can also be assessed.

Why do symptoms persist?

The consultation reviews your sports activity, work, recovery and previous treatment. Examination helps identify contributing factors in the way you move. Ultrasound or further testing may be used when needed.

Treatment and return to sport

Your plan may involve adjusting activity, targeted sports physiotherapy, strength training and sport-specific changes. Together, you discuss which activities can continue and which need temporary adjustment.

An injection is not useful for every tendon problem. For certain conditions, PRP may be discussed, including its possible benefits and limitations.
