Who is responsible and how can you contact us?
Dr. R.J.H. Verjans BV, Oude Houtlei 13C bus 001, 9000 Gent, Belgium, is responsible for this website. For personal data questions or privacy requests, contact Rick Verjans at info@rickverjans.be or +32 9 279 99 94. This registered address is not necessarily your consultation address: check your appointment location.
What data is used, and why?
- Website operation and security: the web server may process technical data such as your IP address, browser, requested page and time to deliver the site, investigate errors and prevent misuse. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in providing a secure, working website.
- Contact: when you call or email, the details and information you provide are used to handle your question or appointment request. Depending on the request, this concerns preparing or providing care, a legal obligation or the legitimate interest in answering your message.
- Visitor statistics: Google Analytics 4 is activated only with your consent. It may count visits, pages used and clicks on appointment, phone, email and directions links. An appointment-link click is not a confirmed appointment. This measurement does not ask for your name, diagnosis or message contents.
This informational website has no patient account or medical intake form. Medical records and health data processed for care are subject to separate care rules, professional confidentiality and statutory retention. Ask the practice or treating institution about them. Send only the information necessary for your question by ordinary email; do not send an unsolicited full medical file or identity document.
Cookies and your choice
You may accept or refuse optional cookies. Information and booking links remain available without analytics cookies. Use to change preferences or withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal applies to future use and does not affect the lawfulness of earlier consent-based processing.
| Cookie or service | Purpose | Retention and choice |
|---|---|---|
| consentfriend | Remembering your cookie preferences. | Necessary; up to 365 days in your browser. |
| PHPSESSID | Maintaining the technical session. | Necessary; for the browser session. |
| _ga and _ga_… | Google Analytics 4: browser recognition and visitor statistics. | Only with consent. Default lifetime up to two years, possibly renewed on a new visit. Browser settings may shorten this. |
| Google Maps | Displaying any embedded external maps. | Optional service with separate consent. An ordinary directions link opens the external site when you click it. |
You can also delete cookies in your browser. Cookie lifetime differs from a service provider’s data retention period.
External services and transfers
Booking links may lead to MyOrganizer, AZ Monica’s patient portal or Maria Middelares. Those services’ or institutions’ privacy information and security measures apply there. Directions, LinkedIn and publication links also open external sites.
Google Analytics and other Google services may involve processing outside the European Economic Area. See Google’s privacy policy for recipients, international processing and safeguards. Fonts are loaded from this website, without connecting to Google Fonts. Medical consultation contents are not passed to Google Analytics through this website.
How long is data kept?
Technical data and correspondence are retained no longer than needed for their purpose: operating and securing the site, handling your request and any applicable legal obligations or disputes. The period depends on the type of data and reason for retention. Contact the practice for the period applicable to a specific request. Cookie lifetimes above concern your browser and are not general medical-record retention periods.
Your rights and complaints
Subject to applicable conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and data portability. You can object to legitimate-interest processing and withdraw consent where it is the legal basis. A statutory retention duty may prevent immediate deletion of certain data.
Send requests to info@rickverjans.be. Do not routinely attach an identity document. If verification is needed, only necessary information will be requested. In principle, you receive a response within one month; any permitted extension will be explained.
You can also contact the Belgian Data Protection Authority for information or a complaint.
This website is available in English and French. Please ask about the available consultation language when booking; a website translation does not confirm that consultations are offered in that language.
